With the advent of new airlines in the market, both premium and low-cost carriers have to find ways of differentiating their service from their competitors to retain customer loyalty. This may include providing In Seat Power Supply (ISPS) systems that support the charging and use of Personal Electronic Devices (PED) such as tablets and mobile phones.
GVH Aerospace, together with our trusted provider of In Flight Entertainment (IFE), was presented with the challenge of providing USB power on a high density Boeing 777-200 aircraft. This involved the removal of the broadcast video system, modification of the existing seat assemblies, and installation of a brand new Passenger Service System with Power (PSS+P) on each seat. The new PSS+P system integrates reading/call light/chime functions with a USB power port that provides 2.1 amps of power to each passenger for charging their personal electronic devices.
GVH Aerospace provided the new LOPA with the modified seats and certified PSS+P system, and worked closely with our partners to ensure successful delivery of the design package for the nominated MRO to commence work in a timely manner. This resulted in the airline being able to offer the new cabin service product on schedule for revenue flights.
