The development of high end aeronautical technology involves a period of gestation and research trials. The airborne environment is unforgiving and dynamic, and testing developmental systems in the actual environment is crucial to the technology maturation process. The access to a flight test trials aircraft and the ability to certify the developmental system for flight in the civil aerospace regulatory environment are key enablers.
GVH Aerospace, together with Nova Systems UK, was presented with the challenge of designing and modifying our H135 systems and flight trial helicopter with a developmental system and performing the systems development flight trials. The schedule required by the UK government customer was extremely tight. The modification involve the installation of a pallet mount in the aft cabin, fitted with the developmental systems. The flight test research trial will be performed by Nova Systems UK under GVH Aerospace’ EASA flight test operations manual.
GVH Aerospace delivered the approved modification and parts within 9 weeks of contract award, and completed the series of flight trials piloted by our EASA Class 1 Test Pilots. Working closely with our Part 145/Part M partner, the entire project was delivered in a timely manner, and provided the customer with the unique opportunity to test their developmental system in the actual operational environment.
