The King Air family of aircraft is one of the most popular general aviation aircraft for general transportation and air ambulance. The customer procured a fleet of new Super King Air 350 aircraft as the new generation air ambulance aircraft that is capable of providing long distance aeromedical transfers. The customer's increased operational tasking required them to transport up to 3 patients per flight, which will dramatically increase their ability to cope with the ever-increasing workload.
GVH Aerospace worked closely with the operator and medical crews to produce an aeromedical cabin refit solution that was both operationally effective and flexible. This include the design and supply of an all electrical stretcher loading system that provides a "no lift" capability. The permanently installed stretcher loading system provides a safe and fast way to load and unload stretcher-bound patients at prepared and unprepared landing sites. GVH Aerospace also designed a flexible and innovative stretcher locking system that minimised permanent aircraft modifications, allowing the operator to reconfigure the cabin easily to accommodate up to 3 patients. This resulted in:
- Increased operational flexibility in patient transport, allowing improvements in aircraft and utilisation; and
- Dramatic improvement in the Work Health and Safety environment for the operational and medical crew.
