Police Helicopter Searchlight

Police Helicopter Searchlight

As a longstanding OEM of aircraft instruments and systems, the customer designed a police helicopter searchlight system offering high performance and multi-function capabilities in a single integrated design. The searchlight was designed to be operated from the cockpit via one or two hand control units, and can be integrated into the cyclic or collective grips, providing an active slaving capability with the onboard FLIR, camera system and/or helmet sight system. This searchlight system was procured by a police aviation force as the lead customer. GVH Aerospace was engaged to integrate and certify the searchlight into the police helicopter.

GVH responded to the challenge, and not only successfully integrated and certified the searchlight onto the helicopter, but also provided valuable operational and design inputs to the OEM. This in-service support included human factors assessments, software and calibration troubleshooting and certification services that eventually led to the resolution of all the remaining design issues. It resulted in a satisfied lead customer and a refined product that the OEM now sells internationally.
