Modern armed forces are required to respond to a broad range of missions in different operating environments, including providing aeromedical evacuation services in response of mass casualties incidents or repatriation of injured personnel to better equipped medical facilities. Military transport aircraft provide the theatre mobility to rapidly respond to emerging situations on ground. The ability to rapidly reconfigure the aircraft to meet the new mission requirements is key to providing military users with the degree of operational flexibility needed to execute their mission successfully.
The Airbus A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) is the most popular air-to-air refuelling tanker aircraft in service, having been selected by 11 air forces globally. The A330 MRTT can be configured for a variety of missions in addition to air-to-air refuelling, including troop transport, VIP transport, cargo/freight transport and aeromedical evacuation. Airbus Defence & Space selected GVH Aerospace to design and build a range of aeromedical equipment mounting systems that is compatible with the Airbus aeromedical equipment, to provide a rapid, flexible and configurable capability for the transport of personnel requiring medical care. The range of medical equipment mounting system is compatible with the GVH Aerospace AeroStretcher modular emergency medical system.
