GVH Aerospace Supports WheelTug's Flight Test Campaign
- Sep 9, 2020
GVH Aerospace is pleased to support WheelTug plc’s baseline loads development flight testing with a successful campaign conducted over the weekend in Memphis, USA. Supporting WheelTug and working closely with Stirling Dynamics, QuickSilver Aerospace LLC and Avenger Aerospace Solutions, Inc., GVH Aerospace developed the Flight Conditions and issued the EASA Permit to Fly to enable the category 2 flight test to be conducted on a Spanish registered 737-800, EC-MTV. As the flight was conducted in US airspace, we worked together with Avenger and WheelTug to obtain a FAA Special Flight Authorization for operating a foreign registered aircraft with a temporarily invalidated certificate of airworthiness. According to EASA rules the flight was captained and flown under our Flight Test Operations Manual by Nova Systems Europe category 1 test pilot Tim Butler. A true team effort with everyone coming together to overcome many obstacles, and a strong testament to our EASA Flight Test partnership with Nova Systems coupled with GVH Aerospace approving the Conditions and issuing the Permit to Fly. WheelTug are running an online live demonstration of their unique and innovative e-Taxiing system in Memphis on 15th September 2020.
